Bisons Fall To Vandy 12-4

Final Stats

After defeating Tennessee 6-4 on Tuesday, night, the Bisons could only manage three hits as they were defeated 12-4 by Vanderbilt on Wednesday.

The Bisons did strike first on Wednesday, plating two runs in the first inning, both runs scoring on a two-run single by Justin Sanders.

Vanderbilt responded with a run of their own in the bottom of the inning against Bisons' starter, Matt Bowling.

After a scoreless second inning, Vanderbilt broke through against Bowling in the third, scoring seven runs to take a 9-2 lead.

The Bisons brought another run home on an RBI fielders choice by Blake Bratcher in the sixth and another when Sanders scored on a wild pitch in the seventh, but Vanderbilt also plated a run in both the sixth and the seventh to maintain the same lead, while adding, two more runs in the eighth.

In his first start of the season, Bowling received the loss to drop his record to 0-1. In 2.2 innings of work he gave up eight runs on six hits.

Only three Bisons recorded hits in the game with Blake Bratcher, Jorge Gutierrez, and Sanders tallying one each.

The Bisons will be back in action when they take on Gardner-Webb tomorrow, Thursday, March 20, at 6 p.m.
