Bisons finish in second in Grover Page Classic

March 4, 2008

Just like a mail carrier, rain, wind and snow did not keep Lipscomb golfer Cory Parkinson from completing his task.

He delivered for the Bisons golf team with a two-round total of 140 (69, 71) to finish as the leader in the Grover Page Classic hosted by the University of Tennessee-Martin at the Jackson Country Club in Jackson, Tenn.

The Bisons, who finished the first round of the tournament in first place, finished in second place in the 16-team field with a two round total of 585 (290, 295). Central Arkansas won t he team title by one stroke with a 584 (295, 289).

Rain, wind and snow all pelted golfers Tuesday as they completed the second round. Stormy weather conditions on Monday resulted in the tournament being trimmed from three to two rounds.

Rounding out the scoring for the Bisons were Cody Hale and Clint Suggs who tied for 12th with scores of 148. Hale was in a tie for second after the first round with a score of 71, but shot 77 in the second round. Suggs turned in identical rounds of 74.

Brandon Mundie finished in a tie for 22nd place with a 149 (76, 73). Parker Beck tied for 48th with a score of 155 (76,79).
