Freshman second baseman Megan Rottler went two for three against Auburn Sunday.

Lady Bisons can't catch that Tiger

March 9, 2008

Nashville, TN - The Lipscomb softball dropped their final game of the War Eagle classic in a 6-1 decision to host team Auburn University Sunday afternoon.

Sophomore designated player Kellie Sirus would pick up the lone run for the Lady Bisons when she sent a double to left field and would score off sophomore third baseman Christen Campbell's single up the middle one batter latter.

The Lady Bisons played well, notching six hits, including two from freshman second baseman Megan Rottler, but were overcome by Auburn's pitching. Tiger senior Brittney Day struck out 11 Lady Bisons.

The Tigers would pull out the win with two well-placed home runs with runners on base.

Tiger catcher Tatiana Fernandez would hit a two run shot over the right field in the top of the first inning, and third baseman Starr Dorsey would do the same in the top of the fourth.

"Over all it was a pretty good weekend for us. I think Auburn and Tennessee Tech are teams that are good enough to win if you don't do what you need to do to win," said head coach Kristin Peck. "We did that against Bowling Green and Georgia Southern and we definitely feel good about picking up wins against those two teams."

"We have grown a lot as a team and are looking forward to opening conference play next weekend."

The Lady Bisons drop to 7-10 on the season and travel to Jacksonville, Florida next weekend to open up conference play with double headers against North Florida on Friday, March 13, and Jacksonville University on Saturday, March 15.
